about

Written in isolation on my 34th birthday. I was thinking of how Toronto changed since I left almost 2 years ago. I played my first shows at The Central. I met my wife at the Victory Cafe. All gone now. Being in your 30s means having schedules and responsibilities, but a big part of approaching middle age is romanticizing how hard you went. And we went hard, folks. So tie your Blundstones tight, we ride tonight.

This one's for the hero Honest Ed and his greedy son. Also I want Wayne Rueben's cop daughter to sue me for painting my own sign using his trademark blue starburst. Come get it.

lyrics

DON'T COME

Someone said shut the hell up from their bedroom window
2008 on Markham street
Like we didn't know
And to that one friend who said it wouldn't be like other times
I don't think you know
How deep we can go

If you don't wanna come don't come
But nothing's stoping us from partying tonight
Pushing 40 rage against the dying light
I'm not fading never ever
Grey and gold and leather

Honest Ed would spin in his grave if he could see it now
When his son gave the turkeys out
He kept a leg for himself
Give me a bic and a can of gas I'll burn this whole place down
Just 'cause we miss the patio
Where we'd smoke and drown

Nothing stays the same as it used to be
Getting chased out of my own city
Galleria Mall honey
Rest in Peace
